I thought that this piece would be great fun!  Hopefully I will do it justice!
First photo is reference second is work in progress.
Comments and criticism welcome!

Bowl

Well, this one really should have been done on black paper, but most of my paper is in storage until we complete our move.  I just couldn't get the pigment to lay down dark enough.  Enjoy!

Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Train

Hi all, thank you for your patience!  We have sold our home, moved in to a temporary home before the final move in March!
The photo of the piece is horrible, the lighting is all off.  I think that people are confused by this.  I photographed indoors with two different lights shining - one a full spectrum the other a halogen light.  The right side of the piece's color is very close to the actual coloring, the left side is much too warm - the coloring is balanced throughout.  Trust me, it is not a rainbow piece!
I think I am finished unless you see something that needs tweaking or adjusted, erased or burned!
Merry Christmas to all!

Waxwing on Ice finished?

I know that I've been whining about loosing my photoshop - I just can't seem to get the free photo software to work for me!  So, this has to be a trust thing from your end, the background is smooth with varying degrees of blue - much softer than it appears.  Finished piece 8" x 10" on smooth bristol using FC Polychromos.

Jars

The reference photo for this piece was provided by Tim O'Brien on Flickr.  Amazingly, Tim is a legally blind photographer that has created a website for legally blind photographers!  I have to say that my finished photo of this piece is terrible.  I updated my operating software for my computer, this upgrade disabled my version of photoshop!  Yikes!  I don't have the $999 to purchase the newer version of photoshop and am now having to use a free program, which I am not yet accomplished in using.  The piece does NOT have the graininess that this photo shows, the piece is actually quite smooth.  Also, I used brand new pencils on this project, Caran D'Ache Luminance from Switzerland.  Of course, like cooking gadgets, I am addicted to buying and trying new supplies, these pencils were quite expensive and sooooo much different than my beloved FC Polychromos.  I'm not happy with the end result, but, hey!  Its a learning process, right?  This piece is available as a print, please inquire if interested!  :)

Mirada

This piece was the most fun at all!  I loved dealing with the distortions created by the sphere of the eye!  The reference photo was graciously provided by John Lienhard, professor at the University of Houston.  Thanks John!  This piece is available as a print, please inquire if interested!  :)

Lily

This piece was taken from my own reference photo, a lily from our yard.  I had a difficult time getting it as bright and vibrant as the photo, still learning how to build layers without over loading paper!  This piece is available as a print, please inquire if interested!  :)

Cloister @ St. Catharinae Denmark

This piece was done on a new, abrasive paper, and a few new pencils.  I loved how the paper worked with the pencils, but, over time the pigment appeared to be "soaking into" the paper.  I previously posted that I would not upload unfinished pieces, but this one is mostly finished - I think that I need to spend more time on the floor.  At some point in time, I will fix and finish.

Fire and Ice

This piece was very fun, and because of the detail, took me a considerable amount of time.  The reference photo was generously provided by Charles Mann of Santa Fe.  I took some artistic license with the composition.  This piece is available as a print, please inquire if interested!  :)

Common Red Pole

My first shot at a bird!  This was a fun one, and fairly quick.  I don't know what happened, but pieces seem to be taking me longer and longer these days!  This piece is available as a print, please inquire if interested!  :)
